Bylaws Update
And what it means for you
Crossroads Arts Alliance has exciting news to share! Although we just celebrated our first anniversary, the organization has matured to the point where we have recently updated our bylaws. In addition to clarifying organizational details, the new bylaws revised some positions and added others, creating openings for members who would like to participate more fully in the organization.
Below is a summary of all of the ways you can participate in CAA’s operations. Whether you want to commit or just want more information, click on the appropriate link to send us an email. We’ll arrange a meeting to get to know you and answer all of your questions about our organization.
Officers
The Board of Directors maintains positions for four officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We are fortunate that the four members in these key positions will continue.
Directors
Programs
An important change in the board structure was made in recognition of the significant amount of work involved in planning, organizing, and managing CAA’s many events. Programs is what you see: it includes art shows, music classes, get-togethers, and all other types of events. The Programs position was split into Program Planning and Program Operations.
- Program Planning will be responsible for translating the organization’s vision into an annual calendar of events, one quarter at a time.
- Program Operations will take the calendar of events and make it happen!
Each of these positions lead their own committees where they collaborate, brainstorm, and figure out how to make it all happen! If you’re interested in helping shape how CAA interfaces with our community, join one of our program committees.
Membership and Fundraising
Two of the existing positions that lead committees were renamed and modified. Both of these Board positions are currently OPEN and awaiting candidates who are eager to support us in increasing our membership as well as our funds. Both board positions lead committees for those specific purposes, so you won’t be doing the work alone, but working with a group of like-minded CAA members.
Communications
The Communications position combines marketing, website, and technology infrastructure. This team is responsible for public relations, the newsletter, website, and social media. In addition, they manage the technology which keeps us going such as email addresses and Google Workspace. So if you’re a wiz at getting CAA’s name out in the community or are great with technology, then Communications is the perfect place for you!
At-Large Members
The 12 board members include three new member-at-large positions. The at-large positions are open to members in good standing and, unlike the other Director positions, do not require that you lead a committee. If you are willing to participate in at least one committee or activity (that fits your skills and interests) while helping CAA grow and succeed, join the board as an at-large member!
Regardless of where you might fit with these board and committee positions, the new bylaws open the door for you to help build this new organization!
